INSTILLATION OF FLUORESCEIN

Alternately the patient can be asked to look up and while holding the lids, the fluorescein strip is placed against the lower conjunctiva.  Place the strip 
sufficiently far from the limbus 
as the strip will cause staining 
of the conjunctiva (or cornea 
if you accidentally touch the 
cornea).  You do not want to 
cover any conjunctival staining 
with staining from the 
fluorescein instillation.
